May is here, and with it comes Mental Health Awareness Month — a time when the conversation about well-being gets louder, bolder, and more public than it is any other time of year. And if you're honest, sometimes that noise can feel like one more thing to keep up with.

So today, we're doing something different. Instead of adding to the noise, we're offering you something quieter: a place to begin.

Welcome to Workbook Wednesday — a free 12-week blog series built around the Keys to Felicity mindfulness workbook. Every Wednesday from now through late July, we'll be here with a new post exploring one chapter of the workbook. You're welcome to follow along with a physical copy in hand, or simply read along at your own pace. Either way, there's no pressure, no performance, and no wrong way to show up.

What Is the Keys to Felicity Workbook?

The Keys to Felicity workbook is a 12-week guided journey toward emotional well-being, self-awareness, mindfulness, and personal growth. It was created through a trauma-informed lens — meaning it was designed with care for the full range of human experience, especially for those who have carried things that were heavy and hard.

Inside, you'll find tools like the emotion wheel, mood charts, body mapping exercises, grounding practices, mindful moment prompts, and reflective sections called Noticing Notes. Each week builds gently on the one before it, though every chapter also stands alone. You can start anywhere. You can pause. You can come back.

The workbook isn't meant to fix you — because there is nothing broken about you. It's meant to help you understand yourself a little more, and to give you language and structure for a journey that's already yours.

Who Is This For?

This series was created for you if:

·        You've been curious about therapy but aren't sure where to start

·        You're currently in therapy and want something to deepen the work between sessions

·        You've been on a waitlist and need something to hold you in the meantime

·        You're a person who processes through writing, reflection, and structured prompts

·        You identify as LGBTQIA+, Black, or part of a community where therapy hasn't always felt like a safe or accessible space — and you're looking for a resource that was built with you in mind

·        You simply want to know yourself better

There is no right reason to begin. Curiosity is enough.

A Note on Therapy

The Keys to Felicity workbook is a supplement to therapy, not a replacement for it. If you're navigating something significant — trauma, crisis, or anything that feels too heavy to carry alone — reaching out to a therapist is always worth considering. If you'd like support, Felicity Counseling is here. We offer trauma-informed, affirming care for individuals, couples, and families in Missouri, Texas, and California.

How the Series Works

Every Wednesday, we'll publish a new post for each week of the workbook. Each post will introduce the week's theme, share a reflection or practice you can try, and offer a gentle nudge toward the next step. The posts will always be free and always be here — so if you miss a week, there is no catching up required. Just drop in when you're ready.

If you'd like to follow along with a physical copy, the Keys to Felicity workbook is available on Amazon. It's designed to be a companion to your healing — no experience required. You can also find it at keystofelicity.com.

Your Reflection for This Week

Before we dive into Week 1's formal theme next week, we'd like to offer you one question to sit with:

What does it mean to you to show up for your own well-being right now?

There is no right answer. Just yours.

If you feel moved to share, we'd love to hear from you in the comments or on Instagram at @felicitycounseling.

📚 Resources That Complement This Week's Work

Beginning a healing journey is courageous, and having the right tools alongside you can make all the difference. These are a few we'd recommend as companions for this first step:

The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk — A foundational, compassionate exploration of how trauma lives in the body and what genuine healing looks like; reading it alongside this workbook can help you understand why this kind of self-exploration matters.

A guided self-care journal — Having a dedicated, beautiful space for your reflections can make the practice feel more intentional; look for one with gentle prompts that invite rather than demand.

We'll see you next Wednesday for Week 2: Mood Tracking and Emotional Awareness. It's a week that gently asks — how are you, really?
